NEET

Students who wish to pursue MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, or other undergraduate medical courses in India must appear for only one entrance examination:

NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Undergraduate)

NEET-UG is the single national medical entrance exam for:

• MBBS
• BDS
• BAMS
• BHMS
• BUMS
• BSMS
• BPT (in some states)
• BVSc & AH
• Nursing (in many institutions)
• Admission to AIIMS & JIPMER (now through NEET only)
• Students seeking medical education abroad (mandatory eligibility)

The exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA)

Exam Details of NEET-UG

• Mode: Offline (Pen & Paper – OMR Based)
• Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany + Zoology)
• Total Questions: 180
  • Physics – 45
  • Chemistry – 45
  • Biology – 90
• Total Marks: 720
• Duration: 3 Hours (180 Minutes)
• Marking Scheme:
  • +4 for correct answer
  • −1 for incorrect answer
• Syllabus: Based on NCERT Class 11 & 12 (Revised NMC-aligned syllabus)

Eligibility Criteria:

• Must have passed 10+2 (PCB)
• Minimum Marks in PCB:
  • 50% – General Category
  • 40% – SC/ST/OBC
  • 45% – PwD
• Minimum Age: 17 years
• No upper age limit (as per current rules)

Seat numbers increase every year as new colleges are approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC)
